ECBE was formed to satisfy the accreditation needs for business education of universities and colleges in European countries. ECBE is a not for profit organisation and is an affiliate of ENQA and the International Federation for Business Education (IFBE). Its purpose and intent is to continually strive and to support excellence in superlative business education, by actively encouraging experimentation and profoundly superior levels of teaching. In addition it provide an interactive Forum which meets the educational challenges of relationships between governments, business, industry and academia. 

The affiliates of IFBE are PRCBE: Pacific Rim Council for Business education, SACBE: South America Council for Business Education, ACBE: African Council for Business Education. MEACBE: Middle East and Asian Council for Business Education and ACBSP: Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (CHEA and US Department of Education accreditation agency).
